November 2016 Monthly Wrap Up PART 2

So many good reads this month.  Check out PART 2 of my November Wrap Up...

I originally only had 24 books, but I actually read one more the other night.

My Thoughts:
I read all three books back to back.  I fell in love with Paper Princess.

PAPER PRINCESS
"The apple is dangling in front of me, juicy red and delicious, but, like the fairy tale, Reed Royal is the villain disguised as a pretty prince. Taking a bite out of him would be a huge mistake. And I might."

This book hooked me from the beginning. Within the first few chapters you are left dealing with a death of a mother, a child trying to survive by being a stripper, and so much more. It will immediately suck you in.

I will say I do not feel like this is YA. It does deal with high school aged characters, but there is nothing else YA about this. This book deals with some deep issues such as addiction, date rape, loss, and sexual feelings.

BROKEN PRINCE
"I've spent the last couple of years trying to destroy everything around me. Who knew success would taste so bitter."

I have to say I was a little disappointed with book 2 in this series. Book 1 was amazing and I was hoping for the same with Book 2. It started off with a bang, but lost my interest for more than half the book. Until the ending...

Broken Prince was much more juvenile. Almost half of the book was Reed and Ella attempting to get back together. Ella was not the strong character she was in book one, but instead a whiny teenager. She wrote off the whole Royal family for what she thought Reed had done.

This does give you both Reed and Ellas point of view. I found the writing to be different for each character. Even though I enjoyed seeing Reeds POV, the writing just seemed off. It flowed more and was more my style when it was Ella's POV.

TWISTED PALACE
** spoiler alert ** "We're going to survive this, just like we survived our mother's suicide, our broken family, and our own demons."

Well, it's over and I have to say I still love the Royals! This whole series was addicting and I read all three books in only a few days.

This, like book 2, shows the POV of both Reed and Ella. I think with everything going on it worked better in this book than the last.

Like the last book, I feel some parts did not benefit the plot and could have been used to add more suspense to what was going on. The high school dance chapters lead no benefit to the story. There could have been more drama on the murder solving.

Steve was a great villain and again they can make you just hate a character.

The ending was predictable with still a few aspects I did not predict.

My Thoughts:
Thank goodness I decided to give this series a chance. I was not a fan of Throne of Glass at all and actually hated it! Don’t kill me! But, I had heard that I needed to read on and that each book was better than the last. So, I decided to give Crown of Midnight a go! I read it only 2 nights and it was amazing!’ Where in book 1 I was bored, Crown of Midnight was a page turner!

“He’d realized it the moment Celaena had turned to him in Nehemia’s bedroom. He had lost her. And she would never, in a thousand lifetimes, let him in again.”

Let’s start with the romance. I think the relationship between Celaena and Chaol is what kept me interested. I loved seeing the relationship grow. It broke my heart when they were torn apart. They are my favorite thing about this book.

There were so many twists and turns. Some I did not understand, but you just have to try to piece this outer world together in your mind.
The ending was jaw dropping! I cannot wait to start book 3!

My Thoughts:
I can't say much. I just needed more. I ended up skipping to the end to finish. Will not be finishing the series.

My Thoughts:
I'm torn on how I feel about this book. I loved parts and hated parts. It took me longer than normal to finish, but I still did. It was boring at times and others I was sucked in.

I liked being able to see the story within the Princess, the Prince, and the Assassins POV. During the first half of the book you are not sure who is the Prince and who is the Assassin.
I will say I have heard so many people talk about the plot twist, and I was expecting more than what it really was.

I also do not feel this was much of a love triangle. It is pretty clear the Princess had eyes for Rafe.

Overall, it was ok. The writing was beautiful but there was not much action. It dragged on a little too much but I want to know what happens. I will be teaching for book 2 soon.

My Thoughts:
I have to say I loved this more than The Deal, but both were great!

This was just what I needed after reading a few fantasy books. This was quick and fun! It was everything you want from a good new adult contemporary romance.

Let talk about Logan! For a 21 year old he is holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. He is all about doing what he feels is right for his family.
He is irresistible in so many ways and you will fall in love with him.

I felt this was very fast paced and I never felt bored or wanting to rush past anything. I liked the plot and the characters.
I laughed and cried and now I need more!

My Thoughts:
I think you really need to sit back and think about the messages in this book to enjoy it. The story was only ok to me, but everything behind the story is what I loved.

Two messages really stuck out to me:
Love is Enough
What a difference a day makes

Both are very true and this is a great story capturing these two ideas/life messages.

I loved how everything intertwined and you really see how certain small acts in your daily life can change everything and everyone in just one day. Overall, a good read.
