Manhattan by Kandi Steiner

Manhattan (Becker Bothers, #3)Manhattan by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Manhattan is the third book in the Becker Brothers series, but can be read as a standalone. I was wondering where Kandi was going to Michael and his story. I do recommend reading the other books as it will bring context around Michael and his previous relationship and also everything going on with his dad.

This one hit me a little harder since it does deal more with the father of the boys. It is approaching ten years since the death of their father. This weekend is the 17 years ago when I lost my own father. I think I just connected with this one more than I did book two.

I do wish we could have gotten more of Michael falling for Kylie. We really see how much Kylie has always loved him. One day he just decides he wanted more. I would have liked a little more build up around his emotions about everything that was going on.

This series has been pretty good, but I feel something is missing compared to every other Kandi book I have read. So far, I feel all three are pretty similar and did not bring anything that was not expected. I just expect more. Do not get me wrong, I am still enjoying them! I just usually an blown away and these are just not taking me there.

I am excited to see what happens with Jordan and his story. He may be the brother I am most looking forward too!

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I have always really loved stories following WWII. They Went Left is very different than any others I have read as this follows Zofia after the war. We get to see what happened when people were sent to camps and trying to locate their loved ones. It really brought an unique view into the story.

I also really enjoyed listening to the authors note on this one. I really loved that she took real names and situations and brought them to life within this story. It just made it even more special.

This did have some pacing issues for me, and I did not really love the ending. However; it was still pretty amazing overall and well worth the read.

I was so excited for this one, but it just fell a little short for me. I was expecting more, especially with how amazing of an intro this one had.

I really loved the beginning of this one and how the girls all meet. I was laughing with them, and really enjoyed seeing how they all came together. They blamed the man that was cheating and did not go after each other which was awesome! I really enjoyed the friendships in this one.

The romance and story was a little too slow for me though. I found myself skimming as it was just not holding my attention like I wanted it too. I ended up skipping to the end to see what happened and how it would all come to an end.

I was not really sure what to expect from this one. I will say that this one really pulled me in right from the start. It had me in tears right from the very first few chapters. I thought I was going to fly though this one, but it ended up not being for me.

I was not able to finish this one. After the first few chapters, everything slowed down way too much. I had to go back and read the synopsis to see if anything else was mentioned happening after the initial chapters. The pacing was just not working for me and I did not find myself absorbing much of what was going on.

Sadly, I did not finish this one.

Forbidden Promises by Synithia Williams

Forbidden Promises (Jackson Falls #1)Forbidden Promises by Synithia Williams
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is my first Synithia Williams read but it will not be my last. I am really curious where the story will go for book two following Byron.

One question I got around this was if there was cheating. No, the romance is between India and her Ex-brother in law. Travis is divorced when they are reunited. If this would normally turn you off, I would still recommend giving this one a chance.

This does deal triggers around miscarriages and family issues.

If you love slow burn romance, you will love this. I really enjoyed the build up between India and Travis. I was very happy that it took them so long to get together. We get to see some of their past as well as them coming back together now. These are my favorite types of romances.

This was a little slow paced at times, but it really picked up towards the end. Overall, I enjoyed this one!
