It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

It Starts with Us (It Ends with Us, #2)It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was excited for this and to get more of Atlas. I was really happy that this was not just a re-telling of the first book but through Atlas POV. It actually follows both Lily and Atlas a few months where It Ends With Us left off.

I thought it was a little slow moving at times. It has many aww moments, but nothing that really tore my soul apart like I have come to expect from Colleen Hoover books. I still enjoyed this though.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I have recently gotten into journaling and I am always looking for new material that works for me. I really enjoyed this book. I do journal digitally, but I was able to use this to enhance my journaling.

I loved the daily prompts. I have not finished this yet, but I like that I can turn to it when I need it. Journaling is been great for my self care and I look forward to flipping through the rest of the pages during my personal journey.

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I have not heard about this author prior to seeing this book. After reading this, I immediately went to search for any other books she may have. That is how much I enjoyed this one.

It is no secret that I have pretty much only been able to listen to audiobooks lately. I have had such a hard time connecting with an actual physical copy of a book…until now. I did not want to put this one down!! I started it one night and stayed up way into the middle of the night and only put it down when my eyelids could not stay open any longer.

This is a great mixture of different tropes and emotions. I love the romantic suspense as well as the heavier topics. The writing and story kept my interest.

Overall, I loved this and cannot wait to see what this author brings us in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

I am on a Lucinda Berry kick as her books have just been really keeping my interest lately. This was no different as I was instantly taken into the story. This was a really quick read as I could not put it down.
This ends with an almost open ended ending with so many more questions. I almost wish there were more so we could process everything that happened. It was still a great story though and I enjoyed it.

The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon

The Hookup Plan (The Boyfriend Project, #3)The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book three in The Boyfriend Project. You do not have to read the previous books, but if you find yourself interested in any of the stories of her friends, I recommend starting there. I really enjoyed the whole series so far.

I really love how London and Drew reunite with this one. I like the enemies to lovers trope and how they banter in the beginning. It was a really fun introduction to the two.

This does have triggers for food shaming though. I know many of the food discussions when around London and her pre-hypertension, but there were also other aspects thrown into the story. Another character mentions having to do extra time on a treadmill from eating a cupcake. If you are triggered by things like this, it may not be for you as food is mentioned very often especially around carbs.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and seeing all of the girls back together. I like that we get updates on the previous couples as well.

When She Returned by Lucinda Berry

When She ReturnedWhen She Returned by Lucinda Berry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I went into this blind, but I had heard it was really good. It took a different turn than I expected in the very beginning as I did not know this was involving a cult. However; this one kept my interest from the start and I read it in one sitting.

It was very predictable on what was going to happen in the end, but I still liked reading about the cult and the things Kate went through. The flashbacks are not normally my thing, but it worked well with this one. It really kept the story moving and interesting.

I really want to read more from this author after this one!

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I was really excited for this one, but sadly, I just could not get into it. I tried both the physical book as well as the audio. I kept putting this down, as I just needed more. There was too many other things going on and I wanted more focus on the romance. I did see where this is the second book in a series, and maybe I need to try book one first. Overall, this one was just not for me right now and I did not finish it.

Beach Town by Mary Kay Andrews

Beach TownBeach Town by Mary Kay Andrews
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Like others, this is getting a lower rating yet it was not bad. It was just what it was. I found it very slow at times and too detailed. There were times I found the plot standing still and I was ready for something to happen to move the story forward. I liked the characters and the actual idea of the story, but wanted more around everything.

After All I've Done by Mina Hardy

After All I've DoneAfter All I've Done by Mina Hardy
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I picked this one up on a road trip and finished it in one day. Triggers for infidelity, accidents, prescription drugs, and mental health.

This does deal with memory loss after an accident. Everything in the end does not unfold like I was expecting at all.

This was a little slow at times and I feel that there were several incidents that were thrown in that did not really have any resolution. The ending was so fast and a little rushed. I would have liked some more to the reveals throughout instead of all thrown in at the end.

There were some things that were very obvious that were going on but they did not wrap up as expected.
Overall, a fun read though with an unexpected ending.

Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Carrie Soto Is BackCarrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

I love Taylor Jenkins Reid and will read everything she puts out. I was not really sure about this one as I am really not much a tennis fan. However; I highly recommend listening to the audiobook on this one as it was a game changer. I ended up liking this much more than I thought I would.

The audio adds in the media aspect to the story. It really brightens up the story and made it a little more interesting especially if you love sports. I also like that there is pop culture topics thrown in from the times.

This was not a fast paced story at all. I found Carrie to not be likable, but then I also found myself cheering for her when it came to her career and comeback. I actually love how TJR was able to write a character that provoked both emotions around Carrie.

I cried several times during the second half of the story: from sadness and again for hope. I loved how it all came full circle at the end (I do not want to spoil what happens), but her last match really got to me.

This is actually a really hard review as I feel this was not fast paced, but fast paced. There was not much going on, but everything going on. It was all just so perfectly done. If you read it, you may understand all of that much more.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and read it in one day.

The Resurrection of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer

The Resurrection of Wildflowers (Wildflower Duet, #2)The Resurrection of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed book one and wanted to see what would happen. This does pick up around six years after book one ended. It was pretty good, but it is exactly like you would expect the story to go. There were some sad moments thrown in as well as some aww moments which made it a decent read.

I also like how the author captures co-parenting in this and did not turn Caleb into a villain.

Overall, I do agree that this could have all been in one book instead of a two book series. I still enjoyed it though and am adding Micalea Smeltzer as a author to read more from.

Blind Side by Kandi Steiner

Blind SideBlind Side by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kandi Steiner is an auto-buy author for me. Sadly, I felt about this one around how I felt with Fair Catch.

I felt Giana was very immature for her age. I do not feel just because someone is a virgin that they have to be that immature in other aspects. I do not know. I just did not connect with her at all.

I did really love Clay though! I also like that he has some family issues going on. I wish they were a little deeper as they did not bring the emotion to the story that I would have liked to have had.

I enjoyed this but it just did not stand out compared to others for me.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from NetGalley. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

Jennier Hillier is a must read and buy for me. I was so excited to get an early copy of Things We Do in the Dark. This does have triggers for murder, drug abuse, and child abuse. However; there is limited details around them but could be triggering to some.

This started off a little slow for me after the initial events. I had a hard time picking it back up. I am so glad that I decided to pick it back up and push through as once I started part two, I never put this back down.

This is almost two different stories told in different parts. Of course, they all connect and I knew that but it was still reading like two different stories. I was enjoying both the story with Drew as well as Paris though so I did not mind. I really love the twists along the way on how they really do connect though.

Overall, I really ended up enjoying this one. JH never disappoints.

I was sent this from the publisher. This does not and will not effect my review.

Sadly, I could just not get into this one. I tried several times. I think it was more of me thing though, as I am a mood reader. I think I want to pick this up on audio in the future as I think I would enjoy it more listening.

For me, I did not finish this one.

Unmissing by Minka Kent

UnmissingUnmissing by Minka Kent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one was much better than I was expecting. It is pretty slow moving, but still was able to capture my attention throughout the whole story.
This has a few twists and turns that I did not see coming. The first big reveal was great, but could have been delivered a little better. It was very anti-climatic and was almost thrown in. I was completely caught off guard with the slower pace reveal. The second was the same, but still had me saying out loud something about what we found it.
I did find the ending a little abrupt. Everything happened in the end very fast and it did not have a full complete ending. However; I still really enjoyed this one and want more from this author.

The Catch by Lisa Harris

The Catch (US Marshals, #3)The Catch by Lisa Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the US Marshals series. I have previously read book one, but had not read book three. I was still able to read this one even without reading book two. I would not recommend reading this one first though as it is the conclusion from the other two books.

I really enjoyed the twist and turns that were involved in this one. I am not normally a huge fan of detective reads, but Harris does a great job with her storytelling to pull you in.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more from this author.

Triggers and Spoilers: (view spoiler)

I went into this story completely blind without knowing anything about it besides seeing the beautiful cover. I was not expecting this at all. First off, this read very quickly for being almost 350 pages. I read through this in one sitting. I could not put it down.

This does deal with some heavy topics throughout the story. Most of the book mentions these things, but does not jump too into them. However; the last half of this book does! I was not expecting the author to take it where they did. It was so sad. I do feel it was all a little rushed though.

The story does just kind of end. You will be left with so many questions and wanting to know what happened next. I am hoping book two answers these. I need it ASAP.

The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry

The Perfect ChildThe Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was immediately interested in this one as it started off with child abuse and infertility issues. I have worked within a field that deals with child abuse for fifteen years and have also been trying to have kids for around the same amount of time. I was instantly taken in by the story.

I will say that this is a great read to see the reality of taking in a child with past trauma and abuse. Yes, this one takes it to the extreme, but it is realistic in many of the behaviors displayed from Janie.
The ending was less than desired though. I wanted and needed more of a conclusion. It just ends with so many questions. Janie is just left off at the end as well.

Overall though, a quick and intense read. I liked it.

Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak

Tutoring the Player (Campus Wallflowers #1)Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent this audiobook. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

Rebecca Jenshak wrote one of my favorite sport romance series: The Smart Jokes series. I was so excited to see this new series as she just does sports romances so well.

This one did start off a little slower for me. It took me a minute to get into the story and the characters. However; after getting to know the characters, I was really enjoying this one. It started off a little juvenile, so I liked when she added in drinking and parties for some more college age scenes.

Jordan is so swoon worthy! There was a lot of talk around his bad boy image, and I would have liked to see a little more of that intertwined with his actual sweet boy image. I loved him though!

The conflict that occurred was minimal and I would have liked to see something a little more substantial. This really did not have any surprising moments to set it apart from other sports romance reads. I still really loved it though.

Kamila Knows Best by Farah Heron

Kamila Knows BestKamila Knows Best by Farah Heron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one started off a little slow for me, but I am really glad I kept going as I fell in love with Kamila and Rohan. The narrator did a great job bringing everything together. I also loved the addition of the sound effects for certain parts like the text chains.
Initially the author made Rohan come off as much older than Kamila. It was almost like he was her dad’s best friend. The talk about his age and his salt and pepper facial hair made it seem like it was going to be a large age gap. It was not as Rohan is only five years older than Kamila.
As I said earlier, this started off a little slow for me. However; I was devouring every scene between Kamila and Rohan and was loving their friendship. They were what kept me reading. I just loved their chemistry and the friends to lovers vibes that we were getting.
I loved the additional culture aspects of the story as well.
Mental health is touched on lightly but never goes into too much detail.
Overall, I really enjoyed this and thought it was super cute.

The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton

The Perfect GirlfriendThe Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I started this on a road trip and should have stayed with my initial feelings around this one. This started off pretty good, but as soon as the prologue was over, it lost me. This was so slow. There was absolutely nothing happening. I was going to DNF, but listened to so much of everything that I thought something huge was about to happen. However; it just dragged and dragged. It veered off on some side stories that did not bring anything to the main plot and did not add any excitement. I was expecting the ending to blazing, and it was also very tame. The story also just ends. There is really no resolution at all.

I should have stuck with my initial thoughts and DNF this one. Sadly, it was not for me.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I do not know why, but this seemed much longer than it really was. I normally read a book within a day or two, and this one took me over a week to get through.

It started off pretty strong, but there were so many things that happened that had nothing to do with anything as the story went on. There were also some things discussed that I would have liked to see developed more.

I was not a huge fan of the second half of this story. I was losing interest and just kept pushing through since I was so far along.

Deviant by Sheridan Anne

Deviant (Boys of Winter #3)Deviant by Sheridan Anne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have been wanting to read something from Sheridan Anne for a while now as several of her series have been on my wish list. I was so excited to jump into The Boys of Winter series as I have heard so many amazing things. I have now read books 1-3 and I am not disappointed.

This is unlike anything I have ever read before. It is not going to be for the weak of heart. If you also do not love multiple love interests, this will not be for you. Triggers for sex trafficking, adult content, and more.

Books two and three are just as quick to listen to on audio as book one. I flew through them. The narrator makes it very easy to listen to these on a faster speed which I loved.

Like the others, this picks up right where we ended in the previous book. I feel the same about this one as I did books one and two. There is so much going on and everything is over the top. I would have liked to keep things a little more realistic. I still do not connect the ages of the characters with everything going on either.

The ending on this one will have you questioning what is going to happen and how everything is going to end.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I have been wanting to read something from Sheridan Anne for a while now as several of her series have been on my wish list. I was so excited to jump into The Boys of Winter series as I have heard so many amazing things. If you start this series, each book ends in a major cliff hanger which will leave you wanting to read more.

This is unlike anything I have ever read before. It is not going to be for the weak of heart. If you also do not love multiple love interests, this will not be for you. Triggers for sex trafficking, adult content, and more. I personally find that I would have preferred only one interest or her to fade out to one. That is just me though and wanting to see more of a connection between the characters.

Like the others, this was just too over the top for me. I was irritated when things would be so tense, they would be too scared to move but have time for intimate scene. I know this is supposed to steamy, but I just did not connect with all of that. I also did not understand how killing the “main person” just ended things. She had armies of men storming all of the time. There are so many more layers than just one person leading the attacks.

This ends in a cliff hanger as well! You can make up the ending on your own really, but now I need to know!

Overall, this was a fun series and I am happy I gave it a go.

Damaged picks up right where book one leaves off. I am glad there is no build up and we jumped right back into the action. I did feel the first half of this one was a little repetitive from the first book. However; the second half was packed with different twists. So much was happening and there were some really sad parts.

Just like book one, this ends a huge cliff hanger. I am glad I have book three to jump into next.

Pretty Boy D by Rachel Jonas

Pretty Boy D (Kings of Cypress Pointe, #1)Pretty Boy D by Rachel Jonas
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the beginning of the Kings of Cypress Pointe series and was excited for a book around Dane and Joss. They had an adorable friendship and I was excited to see more from them. Unlike the series, I do feel you can read this one as a standalone, but recommend reading the whole series for a better understanding of the characters.

I was expecting a little more out of this one. This takes place after everything that happened in the main series which I did like. However; I found it very slow at times with nothing happening to keep my attention. I found myself skimming some of the chapters just to move it forward.

The audiobook narrator is really good though and I enjoyed listening to this over trying to physically read it.

I enjoyed jumping back into these characters even though this one fell a little short for me.
