December 2016 Monthly Wrap Up PART 1

Another amazing month, with lots of great reads!  Check out my December Wrap Up....PART 1

December 2016 Reading Stats: I read 15 books this month

Goodreads Rating System:
5 Star-It was Amazing
4 Star-Really Liked It
3 Star-Liked It
2 Star-It was Ok
1 Star-Did not like It

I initially was putting my books into order by rating, but since there have been so many each month I do not want them to be all lower ranking books in one post.  I have decided to start posting them in the order I read them during the month.

My Rating: 2.5 Stars
Format: Hardcover

My Thoughts:
I am giving this really 2.5 stars. I wanted to give it three stars, but I can't just since I liked the pretty much only the ending.

For me, this book just dragged on and on. There was a lot of information that I think was needed, but it was just not exciting at all. I was having a hard time getting through it. I felt the War building could have been more throughout the book. Celeana was obsessed with the Wyrdkeys, and just seemed to forget about them in this book until the end.

This book is more about Aelin accepting who she is and finding herself. The last 200 pages were really good. I also preferred when reading about the past characters and the coming of War. One of my favorite parts of the book was after the attacks on the camps:

"And when the conductor raised his arms, it was a symphony that filled the cavernous space. It was the song of Eyllwe. Then the Song of Fenharrow. And Meslisande. And Terrasen. Each nation that had people in those labor camps." I am not going to lie, this made me cry.

I will read the next, but hope it will hold my attention more than this one.

My Rating: 4 Stars

My Thoughts:
Garrett, Logan, and now Dean...can I even express how much I love them all!? I love how they are all players/bad boys, but you get to see them develop into men falling in love.
Dean is a sarcastic and conceited hockey player, but I loved him from the start.

I love all of the characters in this series and love that they all intertwine so you get to keep reading about them.

Each book deals with a deeper issue such as death, drugs, depression, and grief/loss. It is also about finding out who you really want to be. I love it and can't wait to read the next one.

My Rating: 5 Stars

My Thoughts:
If you want to start a book that will keep you holding your breath until the last page, then you need to read this. It was amazing. CH is outstanding and this did not let me down. This is a pretty intense look into mental health issues and domestic abuse, so if that is something you do not want to read about I do not recommend this.

I felt every emotion and every fear for the characters. My heart was seriously pounding for fear of what may happen to Luke and Sloan at times. I read this so fast and did not want to put it down. I could not even sleep last night after starting this. I finished it tonight and am still thinking about it.

I will say, I almost took off half a star for the ending. I wish it would have ended at the original The End. I think the extras just took something away from the final satisfaction of the love for this book. If that even makes sense. However; I still enjoyed it. I am also keeping it at 5 stars since I feel if a book can make me feel as intense and involved as this did, it deserves it. Great read!

My Rating: 4 Stars

My Thoughts:
I have been putting off reading this as I really did not think it was something I was going to enjoy. I really did not think I would get past chapter 1 without wanting to DNF this. I was I wrong! I really, really enjoyed it.

It was almost addicting! I flew through this in just two nights. I cannot really explain it. I loved the writing and the characters (especially Iko). There was nothing keeping me on the edge of my seat, but I was just caught up into the world and the story.

The plot twist was predictable and I figured it out as soon as it was mentioned. But, it still did not take away from how good this was or wanting to know what happens.

I will be picking up Scarlet soon!

My Rating: 3 Stars
Format: Paperback

My Thoughts:
This started off interesting, then it took me some time to get into it. I just did not want to pick it up for some reason. I am glad that the last half picked back up and held my attention. I would give the last 100 pages 4 stars!

I liked the story, but prefer the parts with Cinder and Kai! I honestly just want to see their reunion! And the happily ever after! I know, lame! But, I love a good romance.

I think I will take a break before I grab for the next book, but I will for sure continue the series.

My Rating: 4 Stars

My Thoughts:
"For the two of us, home isn't a place. It's a person. And we're finally home."

I am actually giving this about 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed it and I agree with others that you will quickly find yourself flying through the story.

This is a book about young love and you are put through a roller-coaster of teenage emotions. At times, some of this was repetitive and annoying, but then again it is about teenagers and was pretty realistic. One moment the character was on cloud 9, and the next not knowing what she was living for. How is that for real life with a teenage girl?

I will say, this did keep my interest and the writing had a great flow to it. This was the first Stephanie Perkins book I have read, and I will continue to read the rest of the series.

My Rating: 4 Stars
Format: Hardback

My Thoughts:
This was a book I received in a subscription box, and I truly thought I would read a chapter or 2 and then DNF this. However; I was wrong. The next thing I knew I was 100 pages in and then I found myself finishing the whole book in less than one day.

This is a book about a young girl who is living the dream of becoming an Olympic swimmer. It is who she is and all she knows. When a life threatening condition comes out of nowhere, her life it turned upside down. You find yourself scared for her and scared for what will happen to her if she does not learn to let her dream go (or will she die for her dream.)

The writing was really good and I found myself flying through this. As I mentioned, I read this only one day.

I think this is a great read for anyone, but especially teens. It shows how much more to life there really is and how one day everything can change.
