Belle of the Ball by Kristie Mott: Book Review

I was sent this book from the author.  My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

Synopsis:

"It's hard to be a late bloomer when it comes to magic, but fifteen year old Belle Marigny has been waiting her entire life. Living in New Orleans and coming from a long line of witches has made her yearn for the day when she will have her own powers, but when they arrive they bring trouble. Accused of a murder that has not happened, Belle has to travel through time while being hunted by a secretive government agency."

MY REVIEW:

My Rating: 3 Stars

This was a really quick read as I read it in only one sitting.  I think this is a great read for midgrade and young adult.

I loved the beginning of this story.  I liked learning about the witches, their different magical powers, and seeing Belle struggle with who she is with or without these magical powers.  I lost a little interest once the time traveling starts, but I was still intrigued enough to push through.  I really enjoyed the characters and world building.  You learn about how Belle's family came to be and get a quick look into the history of her family heritage.

This definitely took me be surprise and I recommend it for those who love anything in the magic system!
