Crave by Tracy Wolff

Crave (Crave, #1)Crave by Tracy Wolff
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was very excited to read this one as it is really hyped due to having vampires. I definitely had some differing thoughts on this one.

This does deal with vampires and some other paranormal creatures. However; for almost half of the story it is only really speculative. Vampires are really not even talked about until the half way point. There is a lot of build up with the characters and the world. This read very YA to me for the first half. I was enjoying it, but also was waiting for something to happen. Not much really happens with this one until the end.

This could just not keep my attention. I kept pushing through, but it just never grabbed me like I wanted it too. I do not think I will continue on with the series.

Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley

Dream Maker (Dream #1)Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

How was this my first Kristen Ashley? I definitely need to look into more of her work, as I really enjoyed this one. I was not expecting a romantic suspense, but was happily surprised once I started reading since I love them.

This is a standalone, but I did see that several of the characters are from previous books. I would have liked to start from these, but I had no issues with just jumping into this one either. There were several characters thrown at you though including their nicknames (Evie is Evan and Mag is Danny and etc), so I did not have to take a step back and put them all together. Once I did that, everything was easier to follow.

Yes, this was very out there when it comes to plot. Evie and Mag quickly jump into a very unlikely event for a first date. I still enjoyed it though and liked seeing their relationship quickly grow. It was a little insta-lovey so be mindful of that. Mag was calling her babe and baby day one.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one though and look forward to checking out more from this author.

My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren

My Favorite Half-Night StandMy Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

This is my favorite Christina Lauren I have read by far. I loved everything about this one.

First off, I really loved how Millie had a group of male friends. I really connected with this as I have always had a solid group of guy friends throughout my life. I love how the support Millie and everything that is happening in the group.

I also really love the friend to lovers trope with this one. I enjoyed the added technology twist. We really get to see the relationship between Millie and Reid develop with this one which I also really enjoyed.

If you love a good rom-com, you need to give this one a try. I loved it!

Catch Me by Jennifer Probst

Catch Me (Steele Brothers #1; 1Night Stand #89)Catch Me by Jennifer Probst
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I do not usually grab for something so steamy, but this one sounded really interesting to me. I also knew that I could fly though it since it was more of a short story and only around 100 pages (one hour on audio if you listen at 2x the speed). I am glad I gave this one a chance.

I liked the premise of a one night experiment and that both characters were taking part due to their own issues. Honestly, I really wanted to know more about what happened to Tara and this kept me listening. I would read a full length book around each of their stories (I am not sure if there are additional books following them, but will be looking to see).

I would have loved more around each character, but also understand this is a short story. I enjoyed the story. This is definitely very steamy erotica, so be mindful of that going in as well.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

This may have been my favorite Robyn Carr read yet.

This does have triggers for abuse and family violence. This really hits on emotional, psychological, and physical abuse. You get a lot more manipulation and emotional abuse which I really enjoyed seeing as most stories will only focus on the physical abuse. I think it is great to bring awareness to other types of domestic violence as so many only think it means physical.

I could have done without the extra romance with the other couple (I will not spoil who it involved). I just did not care about this one and almost wanted to skim through these sections. They really had nothing to do with anything going on.

This also went a little far-fetched when bombs and such came into play.

Overall, this was a really fast read though and I enjoyed it.

Neat by Kandi Steiner

Neat (Becker Brothers, #2)Neat by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I am super torn on this one. I really enjoyed the relationship between Logan and Mallory; however I do not feel like I really got to know them as much as I would have liked. We get to know about Mallory and her art, but that is about where it ends. I just wanted more with these characters.

I also felt the ending all happened too fast. I was expecting more of a build up around everything that happened, but it just ended. I do know there are two more books which will pick up some parts of the family secrets, but I still wanted more with our two main characters as well.

I still enjoyed this one, but it was just not my favorite from one of my favorite authors ever. I am excited to see where the rest of the series will go though!

Someone We Know by Shari Lapena

Someone We KnowSomeone We Know by Shari Lapena
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

I am a huge fan of Shari Lapena. I have read everything she has released (besides one) so far and she is an auto buy author for me. I was so excited for this one!

There were several couples involved with this one. They were not very distinguishable though, and I had to write them all down to make sure I had them all separated out. Once I did this, the story was a little easier to follow.

I really enjoy the authors writing and the way she can pull you into her stories. I usually read all of her books in one sitting. This was no exception. I was interested in the story and how everything was going to unfold.

I called who the killer was a little early on the story. I was not a huge fan of how everything unfolded. However; the story kept my attention the whole time and I still enjoyed it.

In Another Life by C.C. Hunter

In Another LifeIn Another Life by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

I am a huge C.C. Hunter fan and was so excited for this one. I went into this blind, and I definitely recommend going in with knowing as little as possible. I enjoyed that this had a little bit of a mystery/suspense and romance. I am a little torn on my feelings though.

This story does deal with some heavier topics. Our main character each are facing their own issues as Chloe was adopted at the age of three and Cash is currently in Foster Care. This also deals with triggers around kidnapping, abuse, foster care, divorce, mental health, and drug abuse.

I am pretty critical when it comes to stories around children in foster care as this centers around my profession. I loved how Cash was in a very loving and accepting home. I would have liked to see a different ending for Cash though. I think there could be a whole book just about him and his struggles growing up the way he did. There were some statements that made me cringe a little when talking about the stigmas around children in foster care as well and how Cash seen himself due to these stigmas.

The romance was pretty cute between Cash and Chloe. This started off very juvenile and really reads as young adult. It picked up after a while though and I feel the characters acted more of their age. Both Chloe and Cash are almost 18, but in the beginning you would think they were much younger.

The mystery aspect was very out there. I enjoyed what the mystery was around, but it went a little over the top with a really quick resolution. I would have liked more around how it all wrapped up.

Overall, I enjoyed this one for what it was and read it in one sitting. It was not my favorite from the author, but still an enjoyable read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

Oh my goodness! If you love cute romances, you need to go get this one. If you love watching cooking shows, then you really need to go get this one. Do not let this being a Christian Fiction scare you away. This is a really cute and clean hate to love romance.

This does hit slightly around past trauma and alcoholism. It really does not dive deep into these triggers and just hits the surface.

I really enjoyed how we are introduced to Hadley and Max. I love how we get to see their relationship grow. I would have liked a little more cooking, but it was still fun seeing them being involved in a TV show.

Overall, this was a really fun and quick read.

This is My Brain in Love by I.W. Gregorio

This is My Brain in LoveThis is My Brain in Love by I.W. Gregorio
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was expecting this to a be hard hitting young adult contemporary. It was some in some ways and not in others. This does have triggers for forbidden love, mental health including stigmas around mental health, and racism.

The first half of this story was pretty cute. Jocelyn is really trying to save her family restaurant and brings in Will to help. We get a lot around the restaurant the first half of the story. Honestly, not much really happened and I found myself skimming towards the end. We do not really hit anything around mental health until 2/3 into the story. I did not really like this. There was nothing leading up to introducing mental health into the story, and all of a sudden most of the characters were dealing with it. I wish we could see more into the struggles with Will and Jocelyn. It covers anxiety and depression, but you never really see them dealing with any of this until towards the very end of the story.

Overall, this one was only ok for me.

I really loved Brightside by Kim Holden, so I was very excited to read something else by her. For some reason, I just could not get into this one.

I tried for several weeks to finish this one, and it just never grabbed my attention. I know the author is known for writing heart breaking reads which I normally love. I kept waiting for something to grab my attention so that I would finish this to see what happened. It just never happened.

Unfortunately, I am going to DNF this one.

No One Knows by J.T. Ellison

No One KnowsNo One Knows by J.T. Ellison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

J.T. Ellison wrote one of my favorite thriller/mysteries ever. I knew I wanted to start reading some of her back work and was very excited to jump into No One Knows.

This one picked up really quickly! The author has a great way of pulling you into her stories and never letting go. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, something new will be added to the equation. This was no exception. There was so much going on that I was never bored. I flew through this one and did not want to put it down.

This story does jump point of views and time frames. I am not usually a fan of this, but it all worked together for me on this one.

I was a little disappointed with some aspects of the story though. This ended with too many holes in the story. There was not really a wrap up around Aubrey and her mother in law. I figured the reason Daisy hated her so much was due to her being in foster care as a child. I feel Daisy was projecting her feelings around what happened when she was in her twenties (I do not want to post a spoiler).

There was also not enough wrap around to why and how Chase was pulled into the story either. I get where he comes in, but I just did not think there was enough to how he was pulled into talking to Josh.

That ending though! I did not see the Five Years before coming at all! I can see it now, but did not see it as I was reading. I loved this twist!

Overall, I still enjoyed this one but wanted a little more of some parts and less of others. It was still addicting and had my mouth dropping at times. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

One Night Gone by Tara Laskowski

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

This one has been calling my name for awhile now, and I finally pulled the trigger to give it a try.

The story tells the story with a now and then format. We are getting the Now story around Allison and the Before story around Maureen. I will be honest that not much really happens the first ¾ of the story. But, I was enjoying both the stories following Allison and Maureen which kept my interest and kept me reading.

The twist was pretty predictable as the story continued to go on. I knew what was going to happen once some other suspects came into the story. I was a little disappointed with the direction this one took. I just wanted more. It never took me to the edge of my seat moment like I was hoping.

Overall, this was ok. I really enjoyed the storytelling aspect and want to see what else this author brings!

The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Burning Shadow (Origin, #2)The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Origin series. I do not recommend reading this as a standalone, as this picks up right from where we leave off in The Darkest Star. This does mention characters and things that happened during the Lux series as well.

One thing that I really loved about this one was the romance. There was so much more between Luc and Evie than what we got in book one. Book one was introducing their relationship and friendship. We get a lot more of the two together in this one. I personally loved that since I am a romance lover.

I like that we get past characters back again from the Lux series. I still would love a little more with their involvement. I do feel it is coming though based on where book two was going.

My only complaint is that this was a little too long. I think some things could have been cut down or not even put it in at all.

Overall, I still enjoyed this! I cannot wait for The Brightest Night.
