I grip the steering wheel tightly. I’m not doing this. I only have a couple friends here, literally. He seems like someone I could really get along well with. We could become good friends. I close my eyes at the red light for a split second, then snap them back open.

I’ve made up my mind. I make a silent vow to myself, I am done letting my thoughts drift to Jamie in such a manner.

“Jamie, whatever your long ass, Italian last name is,” I sternly say aloud, “you have officially entered the friend zone.”

Brie lives in Ohio with her husband, two children, and dog, Raja. She loves reading and has enjoyed writing since she was a little girl. She enjoys being active, but you can usually find a few cartons of ice cream at her house. Brie is currently a sonographer at a local hospital.

“No, no!” He shakes his head repeatedly. “I gave you all the time you needed. You should have realized by now we were meant to be together. And I come over here and what do I see? You hugging and kissing all over some asshole.” He vigorously shoves his free hand through his hair. “Do you know how that made me feel? This shit ends now,” he screams, his eyes darkening.

He lunges toward me with his gun pointing at my face. I scream for help as loudly as I can, “Jam—”

Everything goes black.
