Wilder by Rebecca Yarros

Wilder (The Renegades, #1)Wilder by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had mixed things about this one, but I love Rebecca Yarros and want to read all her back list books. I actually really loved this one.

This is much different compared to most recent releases. This does not follow a military family/love interest. It is also much steamier than any of the previous books I have read from her. You can easily skim those sections like I do if that is not your thing.

I loved Wilder though. I loved both back stories around the couple and flew through this one. There was a slight mystery to also keep your attention.

I am so excited to read the next book to find out what happens with another couple in this book.

The Right Player by Kandi Steiner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

Kandi Steiner is one of my favorite authors and I will read everything she puts out. The Right Player actually follows a character who was in The Wrong Game (which was a five star read for me). I almost forgot about the connection, but you get a glimpse into Gemma and Zack and it even mentions a little around their love story. You do not have to read that to enjoy this one, but I definitely recommend reading that as well.

I listened to this one on audio and I really enjoyed the narrators. I love having a narrator for each main character. They both did a great job with this one.

This one was a little insta-lovey for me. We really did not get much around the building of the relationship between Makoa and Belle. I missed the amazing banter that Kandi normally brings to a romance with her characters.

This was a very sweet predictable romance. I really liked what Makoa brings to the story and I just loved him in general.

This was lacking a little for me though as I was just waiting for something to happen to make this stick out from other romances. It just never brought that factor. It was still really good and I enjoyed it, but I just wanted a little more.

Overall, this one was good but just did not blow me away.

Do not let the cover fool you on this one. I was expecting a swoony beach read, but this was anything but. This is really a mystery dealing with a murder and a family on the run. It has a little bit of everything.
I really enjoyed the audiobook on this one. The narrator did a great job bringing Maya to life.

This one pulled me in from the start. I really wanted to find out what happened to Tanya. This did get a little slow in the middle but I still enjoyed it. I do think there was a little too much added in as I do not think we needed most of the side stories. I would have liked the story to stick to Evan and made that a little more climatic when everything came together. I feel the focus was really taken off how creepy and mean he was and turned to a different character. I wish the other character would not have been involved.

Overall though, I did enjoy this one.

The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer

The Perfect DaughterThe Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the narration on this audiobook as it really brought something extra to the different characters and alters.

This is my second read from DJ Palmer. I will pick up anything from him in the future, as I have really enjoyed both books so far.

This one started off very intense as you learn about a horrible crime committed. It intertwines many different topics involving adoption, abuse, and mental health. There were twists and turns along the way to keep your interest.

There was a little bit of pacing issues in the middle with repetitive information. I would have liked to see a little more in the ending as it did feel a little rushed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one though.

Float Plan by Trish Doller

Trigger warning for suicide and loss.

This one really caught my attention from the beginning. It has a pretty emotional and powerful opening. However; the story really slows down from there. I just wanted more. We get to see Anna struggling with her loss and grief, but the emotional pull was just missing throughout the story. I also would have liked the story to have been a little deeper for both Anna and Keane.

Overall, this was ended up just being ok for me.
