Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.
The opening of this story had me laughing as we have out “meet cute” moment. I thought the book was going to keep that tone throughout, but it takes a very different turn. If you do not like the trope of miscommunication then this book is not for you.
I was actually really enjoying this for the first half, but then it started to lose me. It was so repetitive. I do not know if I should be with him, give him a chance, and then back to he is not giving me what I need. I would have enjoyed this more if it was even around fifty pages less. I liked Cadie in the beginning as well. As the story continued you on though, she became to be very unlikeable. I just wanted her to scream at Will and tell him what she wants. They are adults. They never talk about why she keeps pushing him away. Same with Will. He had plans for their relationship, but was really working to make himself better before taking the leap. He never talked with Cadie about this.
The ending was cute, but I was just over it by then. Overall, this was just ok (2 stars per Goodreads).

What a way to start off the Christmas reads. I have never read anything prior from Melody Carlson, but I will be looking more into her work now that I am done with this one. I loved it.
I will be honest. I was hesitant to reach for this. I was just not ready to pick up Christmas reads begin it is still September (in Georgia it is still 98 degrees). I thought this was really short and I just needed to jump in. Well, I read this in one sitting. It just kept a smile on my face the whole time I was reading it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one.

I wanted to love this, I really did. I actually really loved the beginning and thought I was going to love the whole thing. I just could not get invested into the gaming aspect or the game itself. I was bored and wanting it to be over. Overall, just not for me.

The Undoing of Thistle Tate by Katelyn Detweiler
The Undoing of Thistle Tate by Katelyn Detweiler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 Stars
This is one that I almost passed by, but something about the story sounded interesting. I was not sure if this was going to a hit or miss. I ended up really enjoying this.
This is story around finding yourself, the domino effect of lying, and more important things in life. It takes a turn around mental health the second half including depression and possible suicide. It is one of the first books I have found that (on the surface) covers Chrones disease. I was not expecting that at all. It is not the center of the story, but I still like that it is mentioned as my mother has Chrones.
I did not like the dysfunctional relationship between Thistle and her father. I did not like how her father manipulates Thistle for his own grief of losing his wife/her mom. It moves towards a story around mental health. The ending was a little too long and drawn out for me. I almost feel the first half and the second half were two separate books when it moved on to the story about her mother.
This does have a story within itself. You get a glimpse into the Lemonade Skies and how it parallels with Thistle and her own loss of her mother. I like what it brought to the story.
There is also a love triangle that does include some teenage cheating. The romances were cute though as you find Thistle torn between a new love interest and a long term friendship romance.
Overall, I enjoyed this one so much more than I was expecting though.

If you love mystery/suspense with steamy romance you will love this. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of the first book and fell in love with the author. I was freaking out when I was sent book two. I loved this one even more than I liked the first one.
This is a detective story (but do not let that deter you) following cold cases with Juan Acosta. His story starts off with a bang and will grab your attention from the very first pages. Your heart will break as he battles with his own struggles of love and finding new love. I actually enjoyed the cold cases he was following and knew they would come together within the story.
I also enjoyed Vicki and her story. There was so much going on in this story to keep my interest. You can read this as a standalone story from the first book. It follows different characters and different cases
Overall, this was a very captivating mystery that kept my interest until the end. I ended up really enjoying it and can’t wait to see what the next cold case/homicide will bring.

I was actually sent the audiobook for the third book in this series first. I started it and stopped as I felt like I was missing knowing things around the characters from the previous books in the series. I am so glad I read the first two books first, as it really made me appreciate this one so much more.
These can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend starting from book one. It just brings so much more to the characters and their stories. I am obsessed.
This is really reminding me of the Off Campus series, and I highly recommend it if you loved it. There are so many similarities, but enough to ensure this series for what is as well. I was so excited for this and even more excited when I saw it was going to involve Gabby. I was even more excited when I realized this was going involve a bi-racial couple.
This one was a little slower than the others, but it makes sense with our characters Gabby and Zeke. Both are guarded and their romance takes a little longer to get going. Just like in the others though there is no insta-love! Thank you!! You know each couple will be together, but you get to know them and see them develop. I love it. I love how Zeke makes Gabby feel beautiful when she does not see beauty in herself. I actually teared up when Zeke helped Gabby get over a fear (from previous trauma).
No surprise here! I loved this one too. I am so excited to read more around Nathan and his story next!

I actually really love the story between Joel and Katrina. I also love that the author did not just give Katrina to have to a kid and then have the kid non-existent throughout the story. Just like book one, this is a romance and there are some steamy scenes. I really loved that we were able to watch the romance grow and it was not just all steam
I cannot believe this is my first time reading anything from this author. I am so excited for book three. I cannot stop!

I am a huge sports romance lover and can be pretty picky when it comes to the story and characters. I loved that this did not just mention basketball and move on. Basketball played a huge role within the story. It was so good!
This is a romance and there are some steamy scenes. I really loved that we were able to watch the romance grow and it was not just all steam. I love when characters have quirky banter between characters and we get that with Blair and Wes. I loved them both from the beginning. I liked how Wes was more than just a jock. I loved that Blair was an overall great person. I just loved the two of them together and found myself smiling throughout the story.
I am so excited to move on to book two and see who it follows. I already have my favorite side characters who I hope have/get their own stories! I need a copy of this in physical form to add to my collection!

When this was sent to me I put it to the side thinking it was one that I was most likely not going to pick up. I am so glad I gave this a chance. I would have finished this in one sitting if I did not start it at night. The story itself was addicting.
This is not a fast paced thriller, but it will keep you guessing from the very first pages. It is more of “what is happening” thriller than a heart pounding one. I liked it though as it kept my attention until the end. The ending lost me a little bit. There was just never that moment that took it over the top. It was pretty predictable and not climatic enough for me.
This is told within dual narration between Susan and Eric. I was wondering how the stories were going to come together. I like Eric and his back story around his brother and his wife. He is diagnosed with Schizophrenia, but is able to live a pretty normal life. His storyline was a little more interesting than Susan. Susan is a detective so that makes sense as that is not my favorite type of character to read about. I also did not feel the romance brought anything to the story (and that is coming from a romance lover).
I can also see where others will see this story as problematic. The characters make statements around mental health such as those being psycho, living on the streets, and smelling. Just an FYi if you do not like that kind of thing,
This also has a paranormal aspect involving ghosts. I did not think I was going to like those parts, but they really worked. They brought a creepy factor to the story. I actually wanted a little more of this.
Some parts of this story just hit service level and I wanted more.

I have no clue why, but it has taken me forever to get into this one. I seriously have picked this up around six times and did not get past the first few pages before putting it down. I finally started it and ended up flying through this.
Was this my favorite JLA? No, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. I really liked the story the more it went on. I was expecting more New Adult, but did not realize this is definitely Young Adult. At times I was loving the story and others I was bored.
Overall, this was ok. I am not really sure if I will continue on or not.

The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden
This one may be a case of “it is me and not the book.” I do not know why but I cannot really get past the first chapter on this one. I have picked it up four times now and I just could not get the motivation read any more. I cannot even pin point why as it was not anything bad, it was just something I cannot get into right now. I plan to grab this on audiobook and see if I like it more that way. I will update my review as soon as that happens as well.

Eleanor & Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry
Eleanor & Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a prime example of how book reviewing can sometimes hinder finding great reads. I am such a mood reader. I actually received an EARC of this when it was released. I was just never in the mood to grab for it but I had to get it reviewed. I never could get into it then. I knew I loved BCC though, so when this was on Audible I decided to give it another chance. I am so glad I did!
I loved this!! This story is really told within two time periods. We need Eleanor and Grey while in high school. Both are dealing with different issues. There was limited story around Grey and his parents. Eleanor is dealing with a sick parent and everything that comes along with that. I really connected with Eleanor as I had a sick parent growing up. I loved how we get to see the relationship between Eleanor and her mother. It was not just a sad story thrown in to bring a plot to the story. It was heart breaking and I balled crying.
This then picks back up 15 years later when Eleanor and Grey meet again. I loved the beginning, but it this took me over the edge when they are adults. I could not put this down. There are so many changes and Grey is very cold (it makes sense at you read his story). This whole story will break your heart. I literally cried off and on throughout the whole book.
Overall, I loved this! I immediately went and purchased the paperback off Amazon as this has to be in my collection!

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.
I do not know why, but this one started a little slow for me. I picked it up and read the first two chapters like three times before I was ready to delve in. Once I did, I really enjoyed the story.
This is really two romances in one following siblings, Hannah and Thomas. Hannah and Luke were cute. I was really excited for Luke and his back story, but I just did not love how all of that unfolded. Thomas and his love triangle could have had so much potential as well. I did not really find too much to distinguish between our four main love interests.
I did love how the author tackles infertility and the true meaning behind family and becoming a family. I think that was the strongest theme for me and what I took away the most from this story.
I really enjoyed the small town aspect of the story, and it did not hurt that I grew up in a small town in Michigan. I loved how everyone knew everyone and everyone knew what was going on. That is really how small town life can be.
This is a Christian fiction and there was talk around God and faith throughout the story. It was not too much and would not take away from your love of the story. I think it was just the right amount sprinkled within the pages.
This was a little slow for me at times. There was a ton happening, but it just did not keep my interest as much as I thought it would.
Overall, I am torn on this one. There were times I was really enjoying it and others I was over it.

Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Everyone has been recommending this one, so I finally decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, I just cannot seem to connect with Penelope Douglas and her stories. This is the third book I have tried and just did not love. I ended up DNF this one, but read enough to have an opinion.
I actually really loved how this started off. I love that it was a little slower and we were getting to know the characters before all of the romance began. However; it then ended up being a little too slow and repetitive for me. This was way longer than it needed to be.
I was also enjoying the side stories and struggle Jordan was facing. This had everything I would normally love in a story. I personally did not care that there was an age gap. That did not bother me. I do feel like at times Pike was acting more as a father figure than a love interest. I did not find every scene hot and lusty. Again, something was just not clicking for me.
I made it pretty far into this one before I decided to just call it quits. I may pick up from where I left off later.
